Cookstown Valentines Event Report 2025

What a weekend from start to finish our hosts Gary and Yvonne certainly went the extra mile to ensure the Ramblers enjoyed their Valentines weekend.

Friday night saw tables turn red with Roses and hearts as Ramblers gathered in the hall to participate in the fun filled activities.

People’s bingo gave us an insight into the many hidden talents of our fellow members. Despite it not being the time of year for the Olympics and with a bit of coaxing three brave couples volunteered and took to the arena to participate in the highly skilled events.

Event 1 Parallel string and Ball balancing

Event 2 Blindfold Marching on the spot

Event 3 Toilet Roll Grand National

Event 4 Happy Valentines Candle Challenge

Event 5 Lady and the Tramp Spaghetti Challenge

After some wheeling and dealing and a few more liquid refreshments the impressive Medal Ceremony took place.

Bronze - Sandra and Victor

Silver - Joy and Robert

Gold - Evey and Davey

To round off the evening celebrations romantic music was played by DJ Gary.

Saturday Ramblers had their usual fix of retail therapy and relaxation before donning their Glad Rags for an evening of dancing.

On arrival in the hall our hosts greeted everyone with a Sparkling Wine and chocolate hearts reception. Love certainly was in the air as couples took to the floor and danced the night away

On Sunday morning a big thanks to Jack and his team for our tea and coffee which we all enjoyed with Yvonnes homemade shortbread and a slice of Williams birthday cake.

A big Happy Birthday to William

In our chairman’s absence Joe brought the weekend to a close and a well deserved thank you was given to Gary and Yvonne for their fantastic effort and hard work over the weekend.

Look forward to Rambling into Newtownards on the 28th February
